Edit Pages
In this section, you will learn how to edit a content page, add text to a page, add images to a page, add a link to a page, add tables to a page, add files to the database, and backup content.
Editing a Content Page
- Click on “Edit Pages”.
- This brings up the Edit Pages component. The basic content for each page in the site is displayed here in a scrolling list, each with its own “Edit Page Content” button, “Title”, and “Rollback” button.
- Scroll down to the page you would like to change, then click on the “Edit Page Content” button (“pencil and paper” icon as seen in the above image) for that page. This brings up the “Page Editor.”
- The Page Editor is used to edit content in many areas of the CMS, including this Edit Pages component. The formatting controls are very similar to familiar Microsoft Office controls, and mostly function like a basic word processor program. For more details on Page Editor Controls see the procedures continuing below.
Adding Text to a Page
- From the relevant Page Editor window, insert your cursor at the point in the page where you would like to add text.
- Type in the text you would like to add. If you would like to format the text (bold, italic, justify, adjust font face or size, etc…) simply use the formatting tools at the top of the Page Editor. Note: These tools are designed to function just like a typical word processor program like Microsoft Word.
- When additions and changes have been completed click the “Submit” button.
Adding Images to a Page
- From the relevant Page Editor window insert your cursor at the point in the page where you would like to add an image.
- Click on the “Image” tool (picture icon) at the top of the Page Editor.
- This brings up the “Image Editor” window. This window allows you to browse your Asset Manager (see next procedure “Adding files to the database”) to select an image. It also allows you to set title tags and formatting specifics for each image. Note: Though these formatting tools are available to you they are not required and most users do not use these for regular editing.
- To select the image you want to insert, you must first Browse your Asset Manager. This is done by clicking on the “Browse” (file folder icon next to the Source field as shown above) button.
- This brings up the “Asset Manager” window. This window shows all of the images and files present in your website’s database. In this window you can browse your files, preview images and delete those that are not needed.
- To select a specific image click on the image title in the asset list on the right side of the window, then click the OK button in the right-bottom corner of the screen.
- This will close the “Asset Manager” and bring you back to the “Image Editor” window. You should see the address of your selected image in the Source field at the top of the window. Click “Insert.” This will close the “Image Editor” window and bring you back to the “Page Editor,” where you should see your image in the desired location.

Adding a Link to a Page
- From the relevant Page Editor window use your cursor and mouse to highlight the text or select the image you would like to make into a link. Once selected, click on the relevant “Link Tool” button at the top of the page.
- This brings up the “Link Editor” window. First select the appropriate prefix for the address, then enter the full address URL. If linking to a file/document, click on the “Browse” (folder to right of Source blank) button to bring up the Asset Manager in order to select the appropriate file.
- Once you have entered the URL or selected the file you want to link to, the next step is to set the Target. Using the dropdown next to the Target blank select either “Self” (to have the link/file come up in the Same Window) or “Blank” (to have the link/file come up in a New Window). Parent applies to sites built with frames – if you think this applies to your site and wish to use this functionality please Contact Efficient Technologies for Technical Support.
NOTE: Selecting “General Link” Tool vs. “Relative Link” Tool: There are two distinct Link Tool buttons in the Page Editor, each with its own distinct uses.
For links to Internal Relative Pages (those pages that are within your website) – Use “Relative Links” tool.
For links to External Sites or Documents (other websites/webpages outside of your site) – Use “General Links” tool
For links to Internal Documents (files/documents added in your site’s database) – Use “General Links” tool.
Adding Tables to a Page
- After opening the relevant Page Editor window, you will see two icons for tables.
- Insert Table
- Edit Table/Cell
- To create a new table, click on “Insert Table” and highlight in blue the number of cells you want.
- To edit a table rows or columns, click on “Edit Table/Cell”, then click on “Table Size” and insert or delete cells as needed, or (in Firefox only) Use handles on table.

- This brings up the Editor Database upload area. To add a file to the Database, click the “Upload” button.
- This will bring up a Browse blank which allows you to search on your computer for the relevant file. Choose the file you want to add to the Database and click upload. When it has completed it will return the message “The file was uploaded.” Click on “Close” to go back to the Editor Database upload area.
Backup Content
- From the bottom of the Edit Pages component, directly above the “Add files to editor” link, there is the “Backup Content” link. When you are ready to Backup your content, Click on this link.
